Eric Shans returns to 3Bridge with ‘Out Of Sight’, his first original EP on the label this year. It’s a record that spans a few different styles and embodies Eric’s sound to a tee; the light meeting the dark and the space between those two opposites.
The title track starts things off on an upbeat note. Clean percussion drives the rhythms out of the gate coupled with a fat analog bass that moves things along nicely. The track builds around a progression where airy pads and arpeggios take the center stage. A simple vocal phrase repeats throughout and it’s nicely drenched in reverb to highlight the ethereal-ness of it. This is for the peak time hours and those sun drenched mornings or sunsets.
‘Line Of Fire’ is next and it’s a little deeper and darker with some superb low end, Persian style chants, and dub house chords all in the framework of a melodic house track. There’s some killer production on this one with lots of both atmospheric and rhythmic elements. Dance-able yet for the head and mind as well.
‘5AM Frames’ finishes the EP and goes into after hours minimal tech house territory with twisted vocals, effected synths & bass, strange arpeggios, and crunchy drums. It’s something you would hear probably well, at 5AM or some other crazy hour :). The breakdown in this one is pretty special too.
There’s a good variety of sounds to choose from on this EP – you’d do well to have them all in your crate.
