The name Lady Jay has recently been equated to as New York City’s next Techno/Deep House/Minimal talent of Ida Engberg and at the same time the girl next door unjaded sweetness of American country star, Faith Hill. All comparison aside (no blood relation to either), Jay Hill has made her mark as one of the fastest rising and hardest working talents around the globe. Landing four residencies in NY with back-to-back gigs from Los Angeles to Austin, TX to London UK (Notting Hill Carnival), two guest appearances on Ibiza Global Radio (Riccicomoto’s Audioselfdefence show), and special guest appearances on Berlin’s Lucidflow Records Podcast, Girl Power show on Strom:Kraft Radio (Hamburg, Germany), Kiss FM.au (Melbourne, Australia) and Quantized Music sessions on Cannibal Radio (Greece). Formerly a Trip-Hop based singer songwriter/spoken word vocalist in San Francisco, Jay’s life has been surrounded with an intense passion for the expression of movement and sound. . . In 2007 in Los Angeles Jay founded her company The Writing Studio (www.thewritingstudionyc.com) a boutique copyrighting agency with a niche for bios/presskits for electronic dance music. Through The Writing Studio, Jay has been had access into the minds of some of the world’s biggest electronic music producers such as Shonky, Surgeon, Kenny Larkin, Infected Mushroom, Dimitri Andreas and David Herrero, plus many more. After relocating to New York City in fall of 2011 (via Los Angeles), Jay dropped into the dance music scene and became known not for her writing work but her own gift for spinning free-style mixing with perfect timing selections. As a result, Jay has shared the stage with some of music’s biggest producers such as: Infected Mushroom, Shonky/Dan Ghenacia, Franck Roger, Nadja Lind, Okain, Timid Boy, Michel de Hey, and Pete Oak to name a few. . . 2013 was an awesome year for Jay, as people started discovering her true talent for mixing and impeccable track selections – she got booked in some of NYC’s most world renown clubs such as Cielo, Output/Panther Room and Best Buy Theatre to coin a few. In 2014, her focus is on her original productions, remixing and vocal work which is already paying off, in May 2014 her first EP was released on Flowing Movement Music (Brazil) and with tracks/remixes on 3Bridge Records, makes this one, Lady Jay right at the helm – everyone around her can feel it . . . – B.
