The Company Soundsystem (aka Alex Musto) returns to the label for his latest release ‘Defective Metaphors’. 3 jams on the dirty indie dance/tech house side of things, and the EP also includes a remix by label head Eric Shans.
‘Malicious Intent With Your Mind’ starts things off with a playful bass line, crystalline pads, and a breaks type beat along with some fun stream of consciousness dialog by vocalist H.A. Eugene over the course of it. Simply put, it’s a feel good, party track that will light up your dance floors. Eric’s remix takes it and turns it into a proper peak time banger with big analog bottom end, swirling melodies, and slick arpeggios. Next up is ‘We Want Revolutionaries’ and it takes vintage spoken word samples over grimy, driving beats, buzz-saw type bass lines, and afto-beat style percussion. And to close things out, ‘So Help Me God’ heads into after hours territory with twisted vocals, droning effected arpeggios, and energetic drums.
