A veteran DJ and producer, Mark Ryal is yet another new addition to the 3Bridge roster. He brings to us 4 new tracks on his EP ‘Martians’. It’s an original and unique take on deep house and it is simply fantastic.
‘Virgo’ starts things off with a smooth bass line, smooth flowing pads, big kicks, and whip like snares. It’s a great way to kick off the EP. You’ll hear shadows of Chicago influenced house in here too, upping the deepness. ‘Red To The Horizon’ has some almost jazzy influences. Live sounding synth riffs play over a sub bass, and pianos and liquid synth sounds cascade through the mix. Mark keeps it interesting, there’s no predictable patterns here, just straight ahead funkiness and evolving grooves. ‘Surface’ takes effected layers of sound and melody and places them on an aural ping pong set as laid back percussive elements drive the rhythms. Lastly, ‘The Iberian Martian’ brings things down a bit, fittingly. Big expansive melodies play over the piece; it’s almost as if it’s the soundtrack to go back to your own planet after being in a foreign world in your mind or otherwise.
Mr. Ryal has created something truly original in the world of house music. Pick this EP up, you sure won’t be disappointed you did.
