Frank Jackson (aka Gatto) comes back into 2020 on 3Bridge with ‘Sleeping Giants’, his latest collection of sweet electronic sounds. We’re super happy to be releasing this, and it immediately caught the attention of the label’s Creative Director, Eric Shans, when he heard it and well, we just had to put it out.
The title track cruises at a nice speed with pristine (and at times live sounding) percussion, a smooth bottom heavy low end, and hypnotic melodies that offer subtle changes in their chord progressions. Delayed vocal snippets float in and out as well and the synth riffs that punctuate them really give an expansive feel.
‘Sunrise’ is next and it pays a bit of homage to 90s ambient house music with the style of the of the crystal-ish sounding arpeggios all while a groovy bass line keeps the rhythms hinged to the beats. It’s one for the early mornings as the title depicts, or for that opening set where you’re starting to get people moving, and the rich analog textures in the track are really something to be heard.
Closing track is a bit of a remix of ‘Sleeping Giants’ but offers a little different take on the original blanketed in heavy synths, great drums, and constant movement.
