We’re super excited to be putting out Sleepy & Boo’s first 3Bridge release of 2017. The New York-based duo released four great EPs with the label last year, as well as a killer remix, and ‘The Surrender EP’ is no exception to their prolific and growing catalog of quality dancefloor music.
Title track ‘The Surrender’ starts us off and it’s a melodic builder of euphoric dimensions, designed to inspire rooms both big and small for hands-in-the-air moments in the midst of those late nights and early mornings. A massive kick and clap coasts in tandem with the the crisply programmed hi-hats, while an airy, elegant chord progression builds. Huge pads and choirs drive right through the heart of this track in an almost kaleidoscopic fashion. Colorful, driving, otherworldly, and anthemic at all once, you will surely want this one for your sets.
‘Cycles Of Time’ goes for a bit of a more understated, groove-building approach. Dubbed out chords, swirling vocal samples and swinging, slick percussion are the emphasis here, sitting nicely above a solid kick. Rich layers of synth melodies arrive later in the track, inspiring the dancefloor to look skyward. This one conjures visions of the sun setting over the horizon on a hazy summer day, or the morning light peeking through a warehouse roof.
Wrapping up this EP is ‘Yield’. Here you have a great juxtaposition of ethereal riffs and sequencing, blended with acidic bass lines that filter in and out throughout the course of the track. Truly a paradox of gritty and dreamy, it’s a great end to the EP and a nice way to encapsulate the dynamics of Sleepy & Boo’s production repertoire.
‘The Surrender EP’ is pure class, embodying elements of sophisticated melodies and dancefloor friendly workouts. Sleepy & Boo continue to deliver outstanding work, and we at 3Bridge Records could not be happier about it.
